Am I able to get all of my private loan in one semester?

I am in pharmacy school and I have a Sallie Mae loan for alot of money. They disbursed the entire loan in one disbursement (which was today) instead of breaking the loan into half of it in the fall and half in the spring. My school is giving me the runaround on this and I plan on going up to the Financial Aid office tomorrow. Can they hold the second half of my loan until the spring or can I get the entire amount right now? It doesn't make sense to keep money that is not theirs, especially since I have to pay interest for the entire loan starting next month. The school does not have a policy stating this. Thanks.
