Do you consider certain genres to be more intelligent?

Say you have several 'avid reader' friends. One reads romance exclusively (Dorothy Garlock, Nora Roberts, the kind of books with scenes of various raunchiness), one reads paranormal books (Laurell K. Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, Sherrilynne Kenyon), one reads prolific mainstream authors (Stephen King, James Patterson) and another reads literary fiction (Lessing, Coetzee, Amis, Auster, Pynchon). Do you feel that what they read is indicative of intelligence?
